How this site started.
Although I have spent decades helping injured athletes from the sidelines, I gained a very different perspective when I suffered a serious ankle injury myself. Surgery, weeks of non-weight-bearing, and the everyday challenges of recovery taught me how much difference the right equipment can make.
Some products simply made me more comfortable. Others made routine activities like moving around the house, elevating my leg, and taking a shower safer and more manageable.
Soon after my injury, an athlete at my school experienced a remarkably similar ankle injury. I sent his family links to the recovery items that had helped me most, including a knee scooter, elevation pillow, and shower-safety equipment. That experience reminded me of conversations I have had with injured athletes and their parents throughout more than 30 years of coaching.
What kind of brace should we get?
Will crutches be enough?
Is there anything that could make recovery safer or more comfortable?
That is how MyInjuryRecovery.com began, as a way to make the time immediately following an injury a little less overwhelming.
Each injury page connects families with trusted patient-education resources from established medical organizations. It also presents practical recovery products that may help improve safety, comfort, and independence at home.
Every injury and every recovery is different. You may already own everything you need, or your healthcare professional may recommend only one or two items. The products on this site are possibilities to discuss with your physician, physical therapist, athletic trainer, or other healthcare professional—not medical recommendations or substitutes for professional care.
Medical professionals guide the recovery. My role as Coach Crow is to help families find reliable information, consider practical options, and feel better prepared for what comes next.
If this site makes a stressful time a little easier for even one family, it has accomplished its purpose. If you discover a product, idea, or recovery strategy that helped your family, I would be glad to hear from you. Your experience may help another family facing the same challenge.
May your road to recovery be safe and comfortable!
